Objective: Encourage current teachers to expand their dance teaching portfolio and spread the love for West Coast Swing. Inspire people on the fence about teaching or teaching this dance. Create opportunities for the West Coast Swing community to have more talented people sharing their knowledge and passion
6:15 - 8:00 pm: Dinner break. Please note the studio will be closed between 6:30 and 7:30 and will reopen doors at 7:30. We can provide you with a list of nearby restaurants–there are several good ones!
8 - 10:30pm: Social Dance/Fundraiser (supporting https://k9sforwarriors.org/) payment separate from workshop.
Get ready for an unforgettable night of swing and rhythm! Renowned West Coast Swing champion John Lindo will be spinning the tunes as our guest DJ—and he’ll be hitting the dance floor too! Enjoy not one, but two amazing dances, with West Coast Swing lighting up one room and Lindy Hop taking center stage in the other. As a special treat, the evening will feature an electrifying Lindy Hop demonstration by the major sponsor, Piedmont Swing Dance Society. Your admission includes access to both dance floors, so bring your energy and get ready to swing the night away!

What do I wear?
Anything you are comfortable in. Keep in mind, there will be a lot of people and you’ll be moving so light or layered and loose clothing is recommended. For footwear anything you’re comfortable dancing in is fine.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
You can bring any non-alcoholic drink as long as it is a non-breakable container. You may bring snacks of your own. We will have limited free snacks and water available and additional beverages and snacks for purchase. There are also many nearby stores and restaurants.
Are there good restaurants nearby?
We have several stores, fast food, take out and eat in options all within walking and a short drive distance. We will provide a list with your program guide upon your arrival. Of course, we have some of our favorite recommendations as well.
Is the Dance included in the workshop price?
Because we are using the Social Dance Party as a Fundraiser for K9s For Warriors we need to keep those funds separately.
Why is the workshop number of attendees limited?
Although our space can accommodate 140 people we want everyone to have the space to learn the dance and have room to explore. So, for the benefit of the participant’s learning experience we have capped it. Good news, for the dance there is no limit since people often come and go, everyone’s not on the dance floor at the same time AND we will have two dance floors to choose from during the dance party.
What is the charity being sponsored?
This year’s charity is https://k9sforwarriors.org/. We have worked with them before and they serve a dual purpose so we feel it is a great give back opportunity.
Their tag line is “Saving Lives at Both Ends of the Leash”. They provide highly-trained Service Dogs to military Veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs being rescues, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery.
Can I get private lessons with John Lindo?
Absolutely! John loves sharing is passion and knowledge with individuals. Of course you always benefit exponentially more from a private lesson vs. a group. If you’re interested email info@realworldballroom.com with the subject JOHN. We will be posting availability as it gets closer. All of his lessons are 50 minutes.
Are there nearby hotels if we stay overnight?
Yes, we have several close by and are currently working on getting some discounted rates. Stay tuned.
Where do we park?
Great news! Our parking lot can accommodate close to 100 cars.
Are there refunds?
There are no refunds. However, if a situation arises where you cannot attend, we will donate your entry fee to K9 For Warriors. You are also welcome to transfer them to someone else. control please reach out.
